Biomeme Inc., is a biotechnology research firm with a platform that transforms smartphones into a mobile lab for advanced DNA diagnostics and real-time disease surveillance. The system includes a docking station for real-time PCR, a mobile app to control the system and analyze results, and targeted test kits for preparing samples and identifying pathogens or diseases by their specific DNA or RNA signatures.
Biomeme signed a 10-year lease at 401 N. Broad Street in Center City, Philadelphia, for its new headquarters, lab, and production space. Netrality Data Centers is the landlord. The move from a smaller space on Chestnut Street allowed the firm to remain in the city while accommodating its Philadelphia-based workforce in one location. Biomeme received a RACP grant to help fund the project.
The new office was created with Biomeme’s values of collaboration, community, and creativity in mind, resulting in a mainly open floor plan incorporating glass panes, a number of common areas, focus rooms, and huddle spaces. There’s a plant wall in the lobby, a large cafe area, highly technical research & development labs, device and bio-manufacturing, warehousing, and office spaces.
Aegis helped to finalize the lease and transitioned to full owner’s representative services for fitout of the new space as well as relocation, move management, and a decommissioning of Biomeme’s previous space.
The project won Best Office Lease in the Philadelphia Business Journal Best Real Estate Deals of 2021.
