Lockheed Martin Systems Integration: Helicopter Facility

Lockheed Martin Systems Integration (LMSI) secured a contract to develop and build the replacement fleet of helicopters that support the President of the United States. Commonly known as Marine 1, the presidential helicopter provides short distance air transport throughout the continental US. The fleet totals 23 operational air craft and is capable of functioning as a mini Air Force One. In order to support the contract requirements, LMSI was required to build a new design and production facility at its Owego, NY, location. The facility provides 60,000 s.f. of engineering offices and development labs and 115,000 s.f. of high bay production and hangar spaces. Within the production areas are three integration bays where the interior cabins and cockpits are constructed, an RF Chamber for electronic testing of the finished aircraft, and surface prep, wash and paint booth to paint and weather test the finished aircraft.

Aegis Property Group provided ongoing consulting support to the onsite LMSI project team to address financial, scope and schedule issues that emerge in the execution of this technically complex fast track project.
